Résumé |
Introduction |
Discussion/Conclusion |

Introduction |
The practice of physiotherapy offers many possibilities, in different clinical fields, but also in different practice structures. Demographic reports indicate that around 85% of physiotherapists are self-employed. There is also a shortage of salaried physiotherapists. The attractiveness of the different modes of practice is often discussed to justify this distribution. The aim of this study was to observe whether the engineering of initial training by trainers can lead to a particular type of physiotherapy practice.
Materials and methods |
A qualitative study based on semi-structured interviews was carried out with trainers at physiotherapy training institutes in France. An interview guide was developed using a hypothetico-deductive approach.
Results |
Nine interviews were conducted. The trainers do not seem to be gearing their training engineering towards a specific mode of practice. They wished to stimulate students’ reflexivity in the construction of their professional project.
Discussion/Conclusion |
The engineering of initial training in physiotherapy seems to want to be representative of the different possibilities for practicing the profession, in order to enable students to construct their career plans in a reflective manner. This study reports that training engineering is sometimes constrained, making it difficult to provide an exhaustive representation of practice possibilities. From the point of view of the trainers, the training course appears to be of great importance in the construction of the professional project.
